Troubleshooting and FAQ
Quick fixes
| What you see | What to do |

| No ✦ tab on the page | You need the Hydra User or Hydra Admin role. Ask an admin. |
| "You do not have permission to use HydraAI" | Same: ask for the Hydra User role. |
| "Connect to Hydra Hub" / "Not connected to Hub" | HydraAI isn't connected on this site. Check that Enable Hydra is ticked for the site in Espresso, or contact us. |
| "HydraAI is inactive" | The subscription has ended or a payment is overdue. Renew it to switch HydraAI back on. |
| A yellow "You've used 80%…" banner | You're close to your credit limit. See Credits and usage. |
| "You've reached your quota" | You're out of credits for this cycle. Wait for the reset date or add a credit pack. |
| "Still finishing your previous message" | Wait for the current reply, or press Stop. |
| "Reached maximum steps" | The reply hit 50 steps. Send "continue". |
| A plan stopped part way | Open the chat and press Continue on the plan card. |
Chat messages
"Could not reach the server — the connection may have dropped" HydraAI retries on its own, three times, 10 seconds apart. Your chat isn't lost. If it gives up, send the message again.
"Maximum 5 attachments per message" / "… is too large. Max 10 MB." / "Unsupported file type" See file limits. Split the files across messages, or save them in a supported format.
"Rate limit exceeded: 20 requests per 60s" Wait a minute.
"Tool … is not available in Ask mode" / "cannot run while planning" HydraAI tried to change something in a mode that doesn't allow it. Switch to Fast, or press Proceed on the plan.
Common questions
What can it build? Custom fields and DocTypes, workflows, Client and Server Scripts, script and query reports, print formats, notifications, assignment rules, dashboards, workspaces, web forms, permissions and data imports. If you'd normally ask a developer to set it up in Desk, try asking HydraAI.
Will it change my live site? Only if you connect it to your live site. Use a development site, check the result, then move it with Custom Migrator.
Can it delete things? Only what you could delete yourself. In Fast mode it does so without asking, so use Plan mode for deletes.
Can I undo what it did? Not automatically. Ask it to change the thing back, or fix it in Desk.
What does it cost? It uses credits: about 1 for a question, 2 for a small change, 10 for a build. Every Espresso plan includes 100 free credits a month, and HydraAI plans add more, from 1,500 a month on Builder. See Credits and usage.
Does my data leave my site? Your messages, attachments, the records it reads, and the page you're on (when you share it) are sent to the AI model to do the work. See Privacy and safety.
Does it work offline? No. It needs an internet connection between your site and HydraAI's service.
Why does a simple request sometimes take several tries? Some changes need a few attempts to get a setting right. Check the result in Changes Made and, if something's off, say exactly what to fix.
